Game of Thrones

NO, I haven't seen it. NO, I have no intention of seeing it, though it begins to seems as if everyone else in this far-reaching land has. Every third post on Facebook today was about it. The rest were divided between Prince and Beyonce.

The only saving grace here is that rants about Hilary and that Republican thing, His Awful Hairiness, have been eclipsed.

I won't be watching GOT either. Everything I've seen suggests that I'd find a sharp stick in the eye more palatable. Endless sprawling ultra-soap dressed up in sex and violence is simply not for me.

Television night

Television night, Tuesday edition, ala Himself and Herself:

We began with Antiques Roadshow, then NCIS-LA (both from Monday night - I love having a DVR) then watched NCIS and NCIS-New Orleans. I got irritated that a couple of the shows turned out to be multi-part so I have to wait to see what happens. They weren't noted that way in the on-line guide or I'd have waited to watch both (or more) parts when we had recorded them all. My OLD brain has trouble remembering the plot and all the angst from episode to episode when there is a week or more in between. That is part of why I don't watch the LONG PBS or Brit TV serials anymore. I quickly sink in to "Who gives a bloody care!" rather than wanting to glue myself to the screen in rapt anticipation of an unfolding plot.

The above would so leave me out of the loop in the talk around the water cooler so I’m glad we don’t have one. I avoided Game of Thrones and Downton Abbey and I’d guess they were major conversation topics - at least for the folks who weren’t of the six-pack and reality show crowd. I’d probably be considered of the Police Procedural group and himself would divide his time between Breaking News, Rock music, and Achingly Awful movies (my designation, not his) with an emphasis on stuff best left for Halloween.

I’d mention here in closing what we’ll watch tonight but the truth is I haven’t got a clue. With television seasons divided, and sub-divided I can no longer keep track of what shows are in which part of what season and which shows are in which part of which hiatus. Or even what has been cancelled. Or not. Or might be.
